What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is mostly because of asbestos exposure. Initially it was considered as a form of lungs cancer but with the advancement in technology it was made clear that mesothelioma is a different form of cancer that is usually found in the outer lining of the lungs along with other cases.
The general symptoms of mesothelioma cancer are pain in chest, breath shortness, fatigue and blood in cough. Patients can develop tumor masses and disease can spread to more parts of the body besides lungs. The tumors in abdomen usually result in abdominal pain and weight loss along with it's other symptoms.

Causes of Mesothelioma:
Asbestos exposure is the major cause of mesothelioma cancer and many of the patients have a history of exposure with asbestos .Asbestos was regularly used in building construction till 19th century and it was frequently used in world war 2 as asbestos was not considered harmful due to lack of research in this field. With time as more cases of cancer were noticed, the research resulted in declaring asbestos the major cause of mesothelioma cancer.
Even the natural asbestos resources have harmful effect due to the very fine micro structure of asbestos particles that suspend themselves in air and don't get dissolved like other small particles. These particles end up in our body by inhaling them and extensive exposure results in mesothelioma and other lung cancer diseases due to asbestos. People working with asbestos environment have more chances of mesothelioma cancer .Many mesothelioma law suits have been filed against companies that don't use safety precautions for workers who are exposed to asbestos. Many building materials used in 19th century construction used to have asbestos material in them and that may also cause asbestos related cancer and mesothelioma. Many mesothelioma law suits have been filed against the owners of such building that still have materials that contain asbestos in them.
Treatment of Mesothelioma:
The treatment of mesothelioma is done by various techniques that depend of the type of patient and extent of disease. The general treatments include radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, multimodality therapy, surgery. Clinical trials are also used for treatment of patients who volunteer to help in research of improved cancer treatments. The treatment depends on the cause and stage of cancer. Sarcomatoid mesothelioma cells are capable of spreading fast and patients with sarcomatoid cells diagnosed have lesser life expectancy as compare to epithelioid and biphasic cells. Treatment mainly depends on the type of disease diagnosed based on these cells.
